Citizenship projects

The E-citizenship Factory

The objectives of La Fabrique de l’e-citoyenneté

Empowering young people through the acquisition of digital and civic skills

Raise awareness among young people about the sensible and controlled use of the internet, encouraging them to maintain a critical mindset.

Encourage young people to take initiative and speak up by training them to exercise their citizenship.

The means of action of La Fabrique de l'e-citoyenneté

The e-citizenship factory has two main types of initiatives:

The workshops

Various workshops are organised throughout the year for young people, including those with fewer opportunities, on topics related to digital citizenship. These workshops are based on non-formal education methods that encourage discussion, debate and engagement. The workshops can be tailored to the needs of the partners. Here are some examples of workshops:

  • Info VS misinformation: spotting fake news, attempts at manipulation and disinformation networks
  • Online hate speech: understanding, identifying and taking action against cyberbullying and discrimination
  • E-reputation and freedom of expression: thinking about your digital footprint
  • Artificial intelligence: between promises and precautions
  • The internet and social media: how to scroll and post
  • Understanding migration in the digital age
  • Citizen journalism: writing, investigating and expressing yourself differently

Support for web nomads

Every year, AMSED supports young people in developing their citizen journalism skills.
Known as web-trotteurs, these young people are helped to create digital tools (videos, vox pops, podcasts, articles, etc.) for sharing local, European, solidarity-based or civic events.
The young people thus become true ambassadors of e-citizenship, capable of sharing civic stories, promoting the richness of their neighbourhoods and raising awareness among their peers about responsible use of digital technology and civic issues.
These stories, testimonials and tools are shared on a Facebook page dedicated to this project: La Fabrique de l’e-citoyenneté (The E-Citizenship Factory).

Solidarity and citizenship projects

Through partnerships, AMSED also develops solidarity and citizenship projects aimed at young people. These local and international projects encourage young people to express themselves, understand social issues and become agents of change in their environment. These projects help develop their social and civic skills, promote intercultural dialogue and encourage civic engagement. They are initiated by, for and with young people who want to get involved in solidarity work. For example, some young people are committed to supporting people with fewer opportunities in their administrative procedures through the Public Writer programme.
Here are some other examples of projects:

The caravan of dialogue beyond borders

Funded by Fonjep (Initiative for International Solidarity – ISI) in 2023, this project raised awareness among young people and the general public about international solidarity by promoting dialogue, citizenship education and intercultural learning.

Workshops were organised to encourage exchanges between young people from France, Côte d’Ivoire, India and Tunisia on topics such as sustainable development goals, citizens after the pandemic and international solidarity.

Various educational activities (role-playing games, quizzes, artistic activities, the ‘step forward’ game, etc.) were also carried out in the various partner countries by young people to combat prejudice and promote acceptance of international interdependence.

Together for greater solidarity!

Funded by Fonjep (Initiative for International Solidarity – ISI) in 2024, this project raised awareness among young people and the general public about international solidarity and interculturalism.

During workshops, young people from various countries discussed current issues related to these topics: solidarity and crisis, getting involved at your own level, Agenda 2030, living together, citizenship and solidarity in sport, etc.

Educational activities aimed at young people, children and the general public were created and carried out in disadvantaged neighbourhoods, and an awareness campaign was launched on social media using tools created by the young people themselves. A feedback event was also organised during the Solidarity Festival.

Funded by the European Union. The views and opinions expressed are those of the author alone and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Neither the European Union nor the authority granting the grant can be held responsible for them.
